Specialized Congress ORTHOPÄDIE SCHUH TECHNIK 2025
The two-day congress, featuring around 25 specialist lectures and almost as many seminars,
will showcase scientific findings on foot care and discuss future strategies for the pedorthic trade. This year, the focus will be on two key topics, which we will examine with renowned experts from the fields of science and trade and in collaboration with renowned professional associations. Be there – update your knowledge and discuss with us!
Myths and facts
The treatment of foot problems is based on ideas about how the foot works biomechanically and what effect can be expected from medical or pedorthic interventions on this basis. But do
our ideas about the foot and its function still correspond to the latest findings from research? Which of our ideas about the foot and the right treatment need to be reconsidered or replaced in light of current scientific findings? These questions are asked with regard to both surgical and conservative treatments of foot problems, as well as with regard to overuse injuries in running.
Shaping the future
Orthopedic shoe technology faces many challenges: Reimbursement prices
are under pressure in many countries. In many places, there is a shortage of skilled workers, which
is forcing new solutions and processes in the manufacture of orthopedic assistive devices.
How is this changing the trade? What qualifies a pedorthist if his assistive devices can also be made by machines or external service providers?
Despite all the challenges, the chances are good that pedorthists will continue to play a leading role in the treatment of foot problems in the future. This is because they are specialists in movement, combining medical and biomechanical knowledge with expertise and experience in materials
and the many ways of manufacturing customized assistive devices for patients.
Instead of complaining about the current situation, it is therefore important to shape the future as a trade. This requires qualified young talent, but perhaps also a new conception of what this profession is all about. We will address both of these topics on Saturday of the congress.
